Agnes Carlsson (credited simply as Agnes), born 6 March 1988 in Vänersborg, is a Swedish pop, R&B and dance singer who rose to fame as the winner of the second series of the Swedish singing competition Idol in 2005. She has since gone on to be one of Sweden's most popular and best-selling female singers, selling over 160,000 albums in her home country alone.

In the spring of 2005, a 17-year-old Carlsson auditioned for the second series of phenomenally popular Swedish singing competition Idol in Göteborg, singing "Varje Gång Jag Ser Dig" by Lisa Nilsson. The four judges were all hugely impressed by the strong power of her voice and she successfully passed through to the theatre rounds of the contest. Her vocals continued to impress, and she made it to the semi-finals. To the dismay of the judges, Carlsson did not get a place in the final eleven contestants, and when she again failed to grab a place through the special 'wildcard' round, they decided to pass her through to the finals as the judges' choice contestant. Despite this setback, Carlsson wowed both the judges and the public during every week of the finals, and after making it to the grand finale nine weeks later, she defeated runner-up Sebastian Karlsson and was crowned as the second Swedish Idol. Throughout the finals, Carlsson had never landed in the bottom 2 or 3, and she is currently one of only 4 wildcard contestants to win an Idol competition anywhere in the world. She was preceded in 2004 by Canada's Ryan Malcolm and Kazakhstan's Almas Kishkenbayev, and followed in 2007 by Australia's Natalie Gauci.

Immediately after winning Idol, Carlsson signed a recording contract with Sony BMG and her debut single, "Right Here Right Now" was released. A week later, the song debuted at number one on the Swedish singles chart, a position it held for six weeks. It was quickly certified double platinum for the sale of 40,000 copies in Sweden. Just one week later, on December 19, 2005, her debut album Agnes was released to positive reviews and massive opening week sales. It shot into the albums chart a week later at number one, a position it held for two consecutive weeks.

In March 2006, whilst touring in support of her debut album, Carlsson released her second single, "Stranded". Although it received positive critical reviews, the single did not gain commercial success and stalled in the singles chart at number twenty-seven. Despite this however, Carlsson's debut album continued to enjoy huge sales success, selling over 90,000 copies in Sweden alone. It was certified double platinum and to date holds the record for being the highest-selling album by any Idol contestant.

On August 22, 2006, only eight months after her Idol win, Carlsson's third single "Kick Back Relax" premiered on the TV-show "Sommarkrysset". The song, which would serve as the lead single from her much anticipated sophomore album, was released on September 7 and narrowly missed the top spot on the Swedish singles chart, peaking at number two. Her second album, Stronger was released on October 11, less than a year after the release of her debut. Like its predecessor, Stronger debuted at number one on the albums chart, and went on to sell 50,000 copies, certifying it platinum. One of the album's tracks, "Love Is All Around" has since been covered by numerous singers in three continents, the most notable being by Australian Idol alumni Ricki Lee Coulter, which peaked at number two in Australia and became one of the country's biggest hits in 2007.

On November 15, Carlsson released "Champion", the second single from her sophomore album. The song peaked at number nineteen, seemingly setting a pattern of high-low chart positions for Carlsson, which had also occurred with the two singles from her first album. In early 2007, Carlsson embarked upon her second national tour in just over one year. In December, Carlsson and her former Idol fellow contestant Måns Zelmerlöw joined forces for a huge Christmas campaign for clothing store MQ. In order to promote the company, they released a cover of the Mariah Carey song "All I Want For Christmas Is You", which peaked at number three on the Swedish singles chart.

In early 2008, it was announced that Carlsson had parted ways with her record label Sony BMG, citing creative differences as the reason behind the split. She quickly signed to record company Roxy Records, who stated that after taking a short break from the music industry, Carlsson would return with her third studio album, the first with her new label. On August 11, Carlsson's fifth single "On And On" was passed to radio stations and released as a digital download. Geared towards the dance and club genre, the single was a clear change of artistic direction for Carlsson's music, which had previously consisted of pop and RnB. The first public performance of the single was on August 16 during the Swedeish TV-show "Sommarkrysset". The single debuted at number twenty-seven, but following its physical release it surged up the chart and spent three weeks at its peak of number 8, as well as charting at the top spot of the dance and club charts.

On September 13, Kaj Kindvall, the host of the radioshow "Tracks" announced that Carlsson's highly anticipated third studio album would be called "Dance Love Pop" and then went on to explain the reason behind the record's name: "Dance Love Pop covers the three things that the music is all about on this album; dance-music that has a twist of pop and is about love". Roxy Records confirmed the album's title four days later, and also stated that the release date of the album would be October 29, 2008.

In an interview with Swedish radio channel P3 the song "Love Me Senseless" was played, and although it was confirmed as a track on Carlsson's third album, it was not confirmed whether it would be released as the second single. The album Dance! Love! Pop! was released on October 28 and debuted on the Swedish albums chart at number 5 with sales of 10,000 copies. On November 24, "Release Me" was released as the second single from the album. It debuted on the Swedish singles chart at number 60 based on digital downloads alone, whilst the album was certified gold for the sale of 20,000 copies since its release.

Björk Guðmundsdóttir (born 21 November 1965), known mononymously as Björk, is an Icelandic singer, songwriter, composer, record producer, and actress. Recognised for her distinctive voice, three-octave vocal range, and unconventional public image, she has developed an eclectic musical style over a career spanning five decades, incorporating elements of electronic, pop, dance, trip hop, jazz, and avant-garde music. She is widely regarded as an influential figure in electronic and experimental music.

Born and raised in Reykjavík, Björk began her music career at the age of 11 and gained international recognition as the lead singer of the alternative rock band the Sugarcubes in the late 1980s. After the band disbanded in 1992, she established herself as a solo artist with the albums "Debut" (1993), "Post" (1995), and "Homogenic" (1997), which combined electronic and avant-garde influences and received critical acclaim. Her subsequent releases continued to explore new musical directions, including the glitch-influenced "Vespertine" (2001), the largely a cappella "Medúlla" (2004), the pop-oriented "Volta" (2007), and "Biophilia" (2011), which was accompanied by an interactive iPad application. Following the death of her longtime collaborator Mark Bell, she worked with the Venezuelan producer Arca on "Vulnicura" (2015) and "Utopia" (2017). Her album "Fossora" (2022) marked her first project on which she was credited as sole producer.

Björk has sold more than 40 million records worldwide and is considered one of the best-selling alternative artists. Several of her albums have reached the top 20 of the US Billboard 200 chart. Thirty-one of her singles have reached the top 40 on international pop charts, including 22 top 40 entries in the United Kingdom. Among her highest-charting UK singles are the top 10 hits "It’s Oh So Quiet", "Army of Me", and "Hyperballad", as well as the top 20 singles "Play Dead", "Big Time Sensuality", and "Violently Happy". Her honours include the Order of the Falcon, five Brit Awards, and 16 Grammy Award nominations, nine of them in the category of Best Alternative Music Album. In 2015, Time included her in its list of the 100 most influential people in the world, and in 2023 Rolling Stone ranked her among the greatest singers and songwriters of all time.

Björk starred in the 2000 film "Dancer in the Dark", directed by Lars von Trier, for which she won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival. She also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for "I’ve Seen It All". In addition to her artistic work, she has been active in environmental advocacy in Iceland. In 2015, the Museum of Modern Art in New York held a retrospective exhibition dedicated to her work.

Full Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bj%C3%B6rk

Studio albums
Debut (1993)
Post (1995)
Homogenic (1997)
Vespertine (2001)
Medúlla (2004)
Volta (2007)
Biophilia (2011)
Vulnicura (2015)
Utopia (2017)
Fossora (2022)

"Madeon is a french electronic musician who talks about himself in the third person - what a snob." ~ Hugo Leclercq (Madeon)

Hugo Leclercq (born May 30, 1994), known by his stage name Madeon, is a self-described "electro-pop-house-whatever" producer from Nantes, France.

Leclercq started composing music at the age of 11, and adopted a nu-disco style under the name "Madeon" in 2010. In the fall of that year, at the age of just 16, he gained popularity for his award-winning remix of The Island by Pendulum which was praised by the likes of Skrillex and Pendulum front-man Rob Swire.

In 2011, he created a remix for Yelle's "Que veux-tu", and then went on to remix deadmau5's Raise Your Weapon which was praised by deadmau5 himself on Facebook and other social utilities. In the summer of 2011, a
YouTube video of his live mashup "Pop Culture" went viral, which combines 39 pop hits into one song. As of October 2024, it has approximately 64 million views.

Leclercq has been featured on 15 Minutes of Fame, a segment of Pete Tong's radio show on BBC Radio 1. Also on the 27th of January 2012 he played a 20 minute set as part of a show organised by Pete Tong to showcase up and coming stars in Electronic music. He included some of his own songs such as Pop Culture and Icarus, as well as merging songs together; These ranged from Shuriken alongside Que Veux Tu and DJ, to M83's Midnight City being played on top of a Madeon edit of Blitz by Digitalism.

Leclercq has cited The Beatles and Daft Punk as his greatest musical influences. He is also known to use Novation's Launchpad for his live performances, and FL Studio as his music production program of choice.

A debut EP was scheduled to be released in 2012, but then cancelled in favour of multiple singles, the first of which – Icarus – is planned to be released in February 2012.

Mid 2012 Madeon teamed up with one of EDM’s favorite voices, Ellie Goulding, to produce Stay Awake. The track was meant for Ellie’s Halcyon album, but wasn’t delivered in time. It made a standalone release in March 2013.

It wasn't until 2015 that Madeon's debut album, Adventure, was released by Columbia. The album reached number one on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart and featured hit singles such as Pay No Mind and Nonsense. Alongside the album's release were two headlining tours.

2016 gave way to a collaboration with artist Porter Robinson to create the animated single Shelter. The song has gained over thirty-five million views as of September 2018 and was played live alongside many others of the artist's previous tracks during the Shelter Live tour.

In November 2019, Madeon released his second album, Good Faith. The Good Faith Forever tour has been widely praised for its visuals and stagecraft over the years, the show also intertwining lore during the performance. As of November 2023, the Good Faith era is over, with the final show at the Shrine Auditorium in LA. Madeon is currently on a year-long break before the next era.

There are eight artists currently on LastFM using the name "Holiday":
1. An indie rock band from New Haven, Connecticut
2. An electronic punk band from St. Petersburg, Florida
3. A rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia
4. A rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota
5. A post-hardcore band from New Jersey
6. A rock band from London, England
7. A melodic punk band from the North West of England.
8. An ambient side-project of sundots

1) Holiday (www.twee.net/bands/holiday.html) was an indie/pop band active between 1992 and 1997, featuring Josh Gennet (guitar/vocals), Andrew Park (bass/vocals), and Matt Snow (guitar).

The group - initially dubbed Wimp Rocket - formed on the campus of Yale University in late 1992. They self-released their debut cassette "The Big Pickle" in 1993 before adding drummer Paul Moyano and travelling to Chicago to record their official debut EP, the Dave Trumfio-produced "My Roommate Joe". Drummer Calvin Chin replaced Moyano for the follow-up single, "Permission Slip," and after issuing "Prostitutes in Town" in the fall of 1994, Holiday signed with March Records to issue their self-titled debut album in February. The record’s airy, shimmering sound made it a favorite of underground pop aficionados, and its follow-up, 1996’s Ready, Steady, Go!, was also a cult hit. Drummer J. Niimi replaced Chin for 1997’s Cafe Reggio; by the time of its release, however, Holiday was already a thing of the past. The group disbanded following their appearance at the New York Popfest that January. Gennet went on to record as the Singletons.

2) Holiday (www.myspace.com/holiday1982) is an electronic/electro/punk band active since 2000, from St. Petersburg, Florida, featuring Ricky Seelbach (keyboards/vocals).

3) Holiday (www.myspace.com/imonholiday) is an rock/punk/pop band hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia. They are currently unsigned, but were named "best local band" in the Georgia Straight newspaper and won The FOX 99.3's Vancouver Seeds contest.

4) Holiday is a four-piece pop/rock band from Minneapolis, MN, transplanted from Fargo, ND. The band formed in 2003. Originally the lineup consisted of Nick Emmel (vocals), Mike Olson (Bass, vocals), Steve Osvold (guitar, vocals) and Josh Cushing (drums).

The band released one CD independently with this lineup called "Living With The Fallout" in 2004. Cushing was replaced by drummer John "Kapps" Kapla early in the development of the band. The lineup with Kapla on drums continued through another record, "Fashionably Late," released in fall 2005.

Osvold left the band and was replaced by Zack Carroll (This World Fair) before their self-titled EP was recorded. Olson parted ways with Holiday just after the recording, replaced by David Leduc (Toast).

Carroll left Holiday shortly after to join This World Fair on a tour of the west coast and for a recording session from which would be born "Don't Make Me Wait," a song featured in the Dreamworks film Disturbia.

Dave Swift, or just Swift to his friends, replaced Carroll. Holiday announced their breakup in the fall of 2007 with the lineup of Emmel, Kapla, Leduc and Swift.

The band cites influences ranging from Weezer Oasis and Fountains of Wayne to The Beatles and Guster.

5. A post-hardcore band from Southern New Jersey. Members included David Costil (Vocals), Kyle Cook (Guitar/Vocals), Ryan Johnson (Guitar/Vocals), Chris Reed (Bass) and Lou Caltabiano (Drums). Other members included Kevin Smith (Drums) and Steve Perrong (Vocals).

6. Holiday is a rock band from London, England.

7. A melodic punk band from the North West of England, featuring current and former members of The Autonomads, Grover, The Great St. Louis, and Burn All Flags amongst others. They have a self-titled 7" EP available here and apparently write "happy songs about unhappy things".

8. sundots' ambient alias. https://oholiday.bandcamp.com

Two artists exist by this name:

1) The Crystals was one of the most successful girl groups of the early 60s, Known for their association with producer Phil Spector, they had several well-remembered hit singles such as "He's A Rebel", "Da Doo Ron Ron", and "Then He Kissed Me". They were also trailblazers for many later African-American pop artists.

2) The Crystals was also the name of an obscure doo-wop group organised by the enigmatic Sun Ra in the mid-50s. Little is known about them. However, their tune "Honey In The Bee Box" was featured in the compilation album 'Interplanetary Melodies' on Norton Records, an album which has received critical acclaim.

3). If you are here for the Italian progressive rock band Crystals, they are not "The Crystals". Refer to the Crystals band page for more information and please fix your tags.

——-

In the late 50s, Barbara Alston, Mary Thomas, Delores "Dee Dee" Kennibrew, Merna Girard and Patricia "Patsy" Wright formed a singing project called "The Crystals" in high school. Under the leadership of Alston's uncle, Benny Wells, they wanted to aim for the big time. Soon, the quintet signed with Phil Spector's label Philles Records. Spector then chose Alston to be the group's lead singer, which made her very uncomfortable since she had a fear of singing in front of audiences.

Their first hit was 1961's "There's No Other Like My Baby". This song's B-side "Oh Yeah, Maybe Baby" (featuring Wright on lead) and the following single "Uptown" were topical and socially-aware pieces about growing up in the ghetto. After the success of "Uptown", a pregnant Girard was replaced by Dolores "LaLa" Brooks. The next single was 1962's "He Hit Me (And It Felt Like a Kiss)", still widely remembered though only rarely played on the radio due to the touchy subject matter of spousal abuse. Sales were sluggish.

Soon after "He Hit Me" flopped, Phil Spector began recording singer Darlene Love and her backing group The Blossoms under the name "The Crystals". Legend has it that the real Crystals were not able to travel from New York to Los Angeles fast enough to suit the LA-based Spector, who wanted to quickly record and release "He's a Rebel" (written by Gene Pitney) before anyone else had a chance to cover it and have a hit with it. The Crystals were unavailable, but Love and the Blossoms were also based in LA, so Spector recorded them and put the record out under The Crystals' banner.

"He's A Rebel" is perhaps the Crystals' most well-remembered and beloved songs, and one of the most enduring of the girl group genre. It was also their only US #1 hit. The follow-up Crystals single, "He's Sure the Boy I Love", in actuality also featured Love and The Blossoms.

The next single credited to The Crystals is one of the rarest – and also possibly the strangest – in rock music history. Reports vary as to the actual motivation behind the recording, but most agree that Phil Spector was looking for a way to annoy former business partner Lester Sill. What he came up with was a nearly six-minute song called "Let's Dance The Screw - Part I", which would be unplayable on 1963 radio. The record featured simple instrumentation (very much unlike Spector's famous Wall of Sound production style), repetitive lyrics, and Spector himself intoning the lyric "Dance The Screw" numerous times in a deadpan monotone. (The B-side, Part II, was more of the same.) The Crystals sang the song's repetitive verses, though it is unclear if these singers were the 'real' Crystals or The Blossoms.

The single was never commercially released, and only a few copies are known to exist (all marked D.J. COPY - NOT FOR SALE). The record was apparently only created to be a bizarre sort of joke at Sill's expense, as a single copy was specially delivered to him in early 1963.

Though it's unclear as to the level of their participation in "Let's Dance The Screw", the 'real' Crystals definitely began recording again under their own name in 1963. However, Thomas had departed to get married which reduced them to a quartet, and Alston stepped down from the lead spot giving it to Brooks.

After "Let's Dance The Screw", the group's next release was the classic "Da Doo Ron Ron." According to Darlene Love, the track was originally recorded by The Blossoms, with Love on lead vocal. Prior to release, Spector erased Love's lead vocal and replaced it with a vocal by LaLa Brooks, although he kept the Blossoms' backing vocals in place. The song was a top 10 hit in both the US and the UK, as was the follow-up single "Then He Kissed Me" — the first Crystals single since "He Hit Me" to feature all members of the Crystals as a definite group.

Both "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Then He Kissed Me" were penned by Spector with Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich.

Despite the steady flow of hit singles, tensions between Spector and the Crystals mounted. Already unhappy with having been replaced by Love and company on two singles, The Crystals were even more upset when in 1964, Spector began focusing much of his time on rival girl group The Ronettes. Two failed Crystals singles followed, before the band left Spector's Philles Records for Imperial Records later in 1964. 1964 also saw the departure of Wright who was replaced by Frances Collins; toward the end of that year Alston departed leaving the group a trio. They disbanded in 1966. They reunited in 1971 and toured widely in varying incarnations on the oldies circuit; they still occasionally perform today. Kennibrew is the only original Crystal who remained active throughout their touring from the seventies to the present.
Lead singer Barbara Alston (September 28, 1943 – February 16, 2018) died at a Charlotte hospital in 2018.

There are three bands/artsts with the name Brave:

1) Brave, DJ/Producer

2) A Progressive Rock/Metal band

3) A Power Metal band from Brazil

1) Brave (real name: Hasan Dafer), also known as ʙʀᴀᴠᴇ, is a pop/dance DJ and producer. Brave released his first long-play album titled 'Morphine' in 2012, followed by his recent efforts Parvati and Opposition. Morphine sets a new dance pop trend in contemporary pop music, with songs such as Carino, Mass Piece and I Am Bad. Parvati was a follow-up, sophomore album which offered a diverse ambiental music, inspired by Gods of different cultures. One of the singles taken from Parvati was song titled 'Durga', and album also features songs such as Shitala Devi and Vishnu. Opposition was Brave's third long-play album, which sets a new R&B trend for his music. With featured vocals by Britney Spears, Madonna and collaborations with Everborn, this album was a step towards his pop roots. In 2013, Brave is set to release his fourth album titled 'Disco X', with first single 'Come Get Bitch' coming out soon.

2) Brave is a progressive rock/metal band with female vocals and violins. The members are Michelle Schrotz (vocals, keys), Scott Loose (guitars), Trevor Schrotz (drums), Ben Kelly (bass), Suvo Sur (violin, keys) and Matt Kozar (guitars).

The roots of Brave began in 1997 when brother and sister duo Scott and Michelle Loose began writing diverse, acoustic-based, dark progressive music with their childhood friend and drummer, Trevor Schrotz. The original band was called Arise From Thorns (AFT), and the trio wrote and recorded 2 CDs with world-wide distribution and played numerous shows around their hometown of Dale City, VA, a suburb of Washington, DC. After several lineup changes, the music of AFT morphed into a much heavier sound while retaining the atmospheric and diverse qualities of AFT. With this evolution in style came a change in name, and in 2000, Brave was born.

Brave continued to write music and began playing shows that expanded into mini-tours throughout the United States. They recorded their debut full-length album Searching for the Sun, which was released in 2002 through Dark Symphonies records. The album received international praise from underground and mainstream music publications and fans. Shortly after this release, Brave won 2nd place in a Washington, DC “Battle of the Bands” that spanned over 6 months and included over 250 competing bands. Brave used the winnings from this competition to record a follow-up EP entitled Passages in 2004.

After the success of their initial albums and growing fan base, Brave began headlining many local shows and opened for touring national bands including Fates Warning, Opeth, Savatage, Devin Townsend, Asia, Lacuna Coil, Moonspell, Katatonia, and many others.

The next 4 years (2004-2008) were spent creating the foundations for what would become Monuments. After years of writing and 9 months of recording, the new album was independently released on May 1, 2008. This album is their pinnacle work, with a refined depth and musical texture that previous recordings merely foreshadowed. Monuments contain 12 new songs and is Brave’s most accurate musical expression to date.
